Welcome to Our Journey: Nurturing Mind, Body & Spirit
Hello and welcome to my first blog post. I am Yeni Towver, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Therapist, and this is the platform where I will share my experiences, insights, and knowledge in the field of psychotherapy.
My Story
As a proud first-generation Mexican, fluent Spanish speaker, mother, grandmother, and wife of a medically retired combat veteran, my personal journey has been rich and transformative. These experiences have shaped my life and enriched my professional perspective.
My career began as an MSW intern in 2014 when I started the MSW program. I embarked on internships at a school district and a non-profit organization serving homeless veterans. After graduating in 2016, my diversified experience continued to grow. I worked in a skilled nursing facility, inpatient psychiatric units, and covered diverse floors in a hospital, including cardiac, cancer, maternity, and ER departments. In December 2020, I achieved my LCSW and started practicing as a psychotherapist shortly after. These roles have deepened my understanding of the profound impact mental health support can have on individuals, couples, and families.
My Approach
My therapeutic approach is deeply influenced by my faith and the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The Bible teaches us to "ask and it will be given to you" (Matthew 7:7) and to “cast all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). These teachings align with the core of CBT - that our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, and changing our thoughts can help us manage our feelings and actions.
While my faith influences my work as a psychotherapist, it does not mean that I impose my beliefs on others. Quite the opposite, my faith enables me to view others with a depth of compassion and support that was less apparent before I embraced spirituality. I deeply respect and honor the diverse belief systems of all clients. My primary goal is to support clients in their unique journeys, help them to heal and find peace within themselves, while also respecting their individual beliefs and experiences.
My Goal
My goal is to continue expanding my knowledge and skills in psychotherapy, bringing the best of therapeutic techniques to my clients. I am passionate about supporting my clients in their journey towards mental well-being and personal growth.
